HMRC Tax refund

My mother in law received a letter from HMRC advising she was due a tax refund of £34.00. Rather than waiting the 42 days for a cheque to be received I suggested we open up an inline personal tax account. We set everything up and there was a button to request refund. Now my mother in Law does not do anything online normally and check her bank account she always goes into town. I suggested I give her the cash and we would put my bank details in rather than hers. However checking online this is apparently not allowed and CAN be an indication of fraud activity. I thought by doing it this way she would know the refund had been received.
However we checked her online personal account and is it is being processed but now worried they may think something is untoward. I would just like to add when it came to her late husbands affairs I was his personal representative and any tax refund was paid to me. I then just passed the refund onto his widow. Any advice appreciated.

There is not really much you can do at the moment, except wait and see if the £34 is paid into your account. It's hardly a life changing sum of money. If you manage your mother's financial affairs a lasting power of attorney might be a good idea. See

UPDATE
Just checked online and payment made today. I assume they have accepted I am not a fraudster.
