Mortgage help

Hi there. Looking for some help. We live in an upstairs flat in a listed building. We have a mortgage in the property. Our downstairs neighbours are selling. We would love to buy downstairs and convert into one house. We’ve spoken to mortgage advisor who seems to think this might not be possible as we can’t have 1 mortgage on 2 title deeds. Any help appreciated

You'd more than likely need specialist finance initially while the conversion work is undertaken to return the property to one unit.1

Can I ask if you ever came to a conclusion with this? We are trying to do the same and having a nightmare!!0
