Lost Receipt. Lidl Return Policy?

I bought one of those Lidl muti remote control with the three year guarantee last year but it has stopped working now (I have checked it's the remote and not the device!). But I have lost the receipt...

Anyone know what their returns policy is like these days?

A year and a half ago I tried to return a faulty kettle to another Lidl store (I had bought it in a different Lidl store) with the receipt and they told me they can't accept it back as I didn't have the packaging!

  • Lidl have a name of not being very forthcoming with customer service, and without a till receipt, you're entirely at the store manager's mercy (and they are forcefully indoctrinated by their area managers and store operations directors to be as tight as it gets when it comes to returns. Stores get a right rollocking when their returns ratio exceeds a very tight limit.)

Nevertheless, it seems you're still covered by manufacturer's warranty. If you don't know who the manufacturer is, then speak to your local store manager, who should be able to give you the contact details. That's the way to go.

However, if the manufacturer also insists you need to produce a till receipt, and that's quite likely, it's game over.

    Give it a try, anyway.

The story with the kettle is typical. They're breaking the law with that. But that's Lidl for you.
  • Did you pay cash or card? If you used a card then the statement with the sum of money spent on it is normally accepted as proof of purchase. It even works in Argos!!
