Instagram competition requiring you to enter twice if you're a comper?

Weird one, but has anyone else experienced this in the past?
I just had a DM from a brand informing me that ''since you've only followed for the giveaway, you need to tag an extra 3 people to be entered' 
I don't mind doing this since it takes 2 seconds but it's odd? If you didn't want people to follow for the giveaway, then why are you advertising the giveaway so aggressively?

Not come across this, but frankly I think if they're going to be sending snotty DMs like his, you're unlikely to be drawn as a winner, (Or if it's random, and you are drawn, they'll ignore and re-draw.)

I'd be inclined to suggest that I was going to purchase something from their business .... but won't bother now ...
I've followed brands in order to enter, but then gone on to buy something from them (either that same day or further down the line, I'm forever bookmarking items to buy for birthdays/christmas). I don't think they realise how much good a competition can be for business.
