Multiple Teeth removed

On my bottom set of teeth I only have 4 of my own Teeth left and they are front Teeth, I have a plate to wear which I find very uncomfortable to wear and difficult to eat with it in.
I am considering having the 4 Teeth removed and having a full denture.
I know this will mean having no bottom Teeth for a few months until the gum has healed properly and a denture can be made.
Has anyone had a similar thing done and how did you cope with having no Teeth for a while and eating?

You should be able to have an immediate denture made and fitted before you got your permanent dentures.0
