Dunstonh is right (as always) in pension terms crystallising means beginning the process of taking money out of your pension (normally some of the 25% tax free sum). Not a statement about loss or profit
You were using the term in its non specialist sense, ie a loss/profit isnt crystallised until you sell the investment and it stops being a "paper" valueI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
