Faulty TV

Options
I purchased a Samsung TV from Currys on 26/11/2018. When my children have turned the TV on this morning there is a fault, the screen is continually flickering. I attempted to contact Currys but was passed to Samsung by an automated message. Typically the TV is 3 months out of warranty. Is it not reasonable to assume that products we purchased should last longer than 18 months.

Yes see your Consumer Rights .Samsung owe you nothing warranty is just an extra .
You contact Currys the vendor under your Consumer Rights .
They can then ask you to prove via an  independent report proving your assumptions etc .
Covid of course makes contact difficult at present .
Vendor has choice if case proven   Repair / Replace / Refund ( less usage )
  • Currys will be re-opening 131 stores on Monday, and for the first 3 days they will be concentrating on assisting existing customers with their queries, rather than new sales.

The remainder of their stores will be re-opening over the forthcoming weeks.

This is weird, my LG TV bought from Currys on August 2018 developed a fault last night, and so far I've only had a twitter conversation with Currys, who are currently denying the existence of the Consumer Rights Act.

Gonna print off a letter to send to them and get the ball rolling, currently waiting on recommendations for someone to check the TV

Because it's over 6 months, you'll need to get an independent report proving it's an inherent defect.
Until you have this, Currys don't have to do anything :)
