Hello .
I paid the full year to join the local gym, that was 3 months before the Corna lockdown .Can I cIaim my money back for the remaining months that left.? Thank you

Yes. It’s a service that you are unable to use therefore you are not liable to have paid for. The gym must either refund you and the months they’ve been shut, or they can add the months onto your annual membership to extend your end date

I would suggest contacting your local gym. Mine has emailed members confirming that if you have paid via annual membership, any unused months would be added to the end of the validity.

I tried to cancel my David Lloyd membership in April as I’ve no casual work and unlikely to have any this year. I’m a pensioner, 66, and even when they’re open won’t feel safe there. They have added the months closed on but a) I can’t afford it because of coronavirus b) too worried about my health.
Their response is totally unsympathetic. I am still arguing the case, very politely, but feel this is unfair trading.
