Administrative Charges

Hi,
I'm hoping for a bit of advice.
My annual ground rent is due (£40) at the beginning of July 2020. The company I pay this too has changed. In the process of setting this new payee account, I have accidentally omitted my reference number and have been told an administrative charge of £30 will be applied to my account. I realised the error, and tried to remedy this straight away by contacting my bank, but the money had already left my account.
Can onerous  administrative charges like this legally be upheld or is it possible to contest them? One final question, I am hoping yo complete the freehold purchase of my property in the coming 6 weeks, therefore is it reasonable for them to still charge me ground rent?
Thanks!

They can be upheld, but you could try to argue it's disproportionate.

It's still reasonable for them to charge you ground rent as you don;t own the freehold.
