O/S Daily Saturday 20 June 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning message.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Bright sunny start to the day here, so I'll get a wash load done and onto the line.
DH watching catchup tv, I'm enjoying my first cuppa whilst on here, DS1 still in his pit. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was steak pie, chips, veg and gravy for the menfolk, I had fishcakes and salad. Tonight will be picky bits, side salad, either new potatoes, wedges or skinny chips. I may make a med veg tart.
I'll just be having a chill day, I have a few things I want to get done, although as I've now started doing a few more jobs daily everything should move along ok.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
Day started lovely but back to cloud again now Looks like we are in for a heatwave next week so get those towels washed the new and improved spa will be reopening soon
Excitement to the extreme today when my Asda delivery arrived and wait for it......it had flour in it
Thats 12 weeks since I got any so a little dance was in order. The only thing not there was a pack of face masks I ordered just in case. Now to decide what to cook first with the flour maybe some scones or a lemon drizzle. Maybe a large yorkie for tonight .....this flour won't last long I can see now
Some housey stuff to crack through today but mostly a chill and netflix
Have a great day all14 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. A glorious start here too, it's lovely to get up and see the sun again after two days of heavy rain. Just been out to feed the birdies and it was nice to keep dry in the process!
After ringing the vets at 8.30 yesterday morning I finally got to speak to the vet at 6.15!! Still no face to face contact, even in an emergency. You have to ring from the carpark and someone comes out in all the gear to take your pet inside whilst you wait in the car! As Sparkle's allergy is an ongoing thing I only needed to request the usual meds over the phone fortunately. DS has to go into work for a couple of hours this morning so he is doing a slight detour on his way home to collect them for me. Poor puss cat is looking very sorry for herself so I hope the anti b's soon kick in.
My Tesco delivery duly arrived at the allotted time with only one sub! Dettol surface wipes instead of their own brand. I was happy to accept that sub! And my cheapo toilet brush was as ordered to add to my excitement!!! The old one is now well wrapped up in the waste bin. I'll look for a posher one once I am out browsing the shops again.
As usual not a lot planned for today. A bit of pottering this morning and then reading out in the sunshine. Apparently there is horrendous weather in store overnight for a lot of us.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Take care and stay safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"11 -
Hi everyone,
I spent most of yesterday asleep and then slept most of the night asleep as well, I was shattered, it's hard work helping to look after a teething baby. I've told Laura to stay in bed today because she's been keeping going for so long, hopefully she'll be feeling better after that. Brian and Steve can do their share today, they played golf again yesterday so they are getting more breaks than me and Laura.
I haven't got much news again but I can't believe the year has half gone. We had such plans at the beginning of the year now that Steve is so much better, oh well, worse things happen at sea. It's Chris' birthday next week, he's 34, how on earth did that happen.

Morning All
A mix of sunshine and cloud this morning, there was rain yesterday evening and overnight that seems to have watered the garden, thank goodness.
I have bedding, dressing gowns and a mixed load blowing happily on the line this morning and I've been for a walk to Aldi for supplies, just off to the allotment to check on everything then I can enjoy seeing DS1 and the DGC. I think DD is coming over this afternoon with her partner and the baby so it will be a full garden. I woke up very early this morning and I'm sure it's excitement, I'll need a little nap later!
Hope everyone's well and enjoys the sunshine (if you have it), take care. XX13 -
Morning all.
Thanks for the start nmlc and I do admire your dedication in keeping the daily chores going. It has always been my intention to do that instead of the great panicky clear up when someone announces their intention of visiting. Mind you, I have the great panicky clear up down to a fine art by now. Practise makes perfect.
Nelski, enjoy Flour Day! One thing you won't have to do is make biscuits. When we all storm the Spa, clad in our bikinis and exhibiting our shapely figures, the last thing we will be wanting is coffee and bikkies. Just think of the bulges, dahling.
TA. I imagine you will be spending today, not sitting in the sunshine reading, but wielding the cheapo toilet brush in a frenzy of enthusiasm. Enjoy!
Here I will be preparing for the heat wave at the end of the week. Never mind preparing for winter, as I see the good folk on the appropriately named thread are doing. I don't do heat at all well and intend to spend the heat wave in a darkened room. Well, it would be darkened if I had curtains, but mine are still sitting in the curtain-makers shop, waiting for tradesmen to be allowed into people's homes to do things like put up curtain rails.
So the clear up begins today, so at least I can drape myself across a sofa by a cooling fan.
The pile of books is already in position.
I like to get my priorities right.

Morning all
Its a bit dull and overcast here this morning but meant to brighten up later, housework to do this morning and we will get out on the bikes later, OH is back at work Monday so need to make the most of these two days.
We cycled out yesterday to a local seaside town and bought some fresh mackerel and fresh prawns from a fish stand, we will do these tonight on the bbq on a gentle heat and do some linguine inside with onions and garlic and some baby tomatoes, my mouth is watering thinking about it, we also bought a pot of dressed crab and stopped on the way home for a fresh brown loaf and had that for lunch, I love crab so much so will be going back to get more soon it was delish !!
I have a wash on the go and will hang that out for a while and the garden needs a tidy as its full of dog toys, and its my day for poop picking
DD and I were in the garden last night after dinner playing with a Frisbee I somehow managed to throw it into next doors garden, we then started laughing and could not stop at the thought of a 50 year old woman going and asking for her Frisbee back
I am hoping they see it and throw it back !!
Camelot enjoy your day with the family, how lovely for you all xx
Snoozer my dd was a terrible sleeper so I do feel your pain xx
Nels have you watched 'Little fires everywhere '? on netflix well worth a watch.
Have good days all xx

Hello all.I stripped the bed yesterday and this morning I have washed the bedding and hung it out, but we have already had a heavy shower
Oh well it can stay out now and obviously Derek got the forecast wrong again ! DGS is having a problem with the sound on his X box, so SiL will drop it off to Mr Fix It later and hopefully he can sort it out.We had all sorts of promises made by the WAG if things keep improving on the virus front. The shops are allowed to open from Monday and hairdressers and tourism (but only if they self contained ) are on amber to get ready. We have had no new cases here for almost 2 weeks but that can change in an instant and I'm in no hurry to venture out yet.Right off to do a weather dance in the hope for some sun.Take care all.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently10 -
Morning all, hope you are all well & Sparkle's chin gets better soon TA. It's a bit grey here atm. A house up the road has it's entire roof off this morning, and 6 men are working furiously on it so really hope we dont see any rain like we've had over the last few days
Not much on the agenda really (what's new!) but DH is taking me to drop off some more scrub bags I made a couple of weeks ago, someone was meant to collect but it never happened. The lady who started the group has received a lovely letter from our town mayor in recognition of all her hard work, which was lovely.Curry for tea tonight, and I got some steak for Fathers Day.That's about it really , oh apart from giving my new shredder some stick, I dug out some old files and keep doing some every day
Take care & enjoy the weekend x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)10 -
Morning all.I went out early for happy hour shopping, the shop was fairly quiet though the roads are busy again. In a burst of random excitment I bought a jar of the Marmite peanut butter, just out of curiousity really. I'll try it later. My order of two coffee mugs from JL went wonky - the size I ordered was 220ml and got sent 340ml ones. Luckily I opened the box whislt in Waitrose so promptly returned them I checked my order online in case I had got it wrong but I hadn't. As it happens I didn't like the thick china so would have probably sent them back anyway. I've now ordered some different ones from M&S.I also picked up the new kitchen taps from SF, not the tap I really wanted though it is the tap I ordered. If the work doesn't start for a couple of weeks I'll look out for the one I want, just in case it comes back into stock. There's bright sunshine here too, just perfect for bike riding, allotment working, long walks and general outdoor stuff, perhaps I'll go out again later. DM sleeps so much these days that I'm just hanging around. It's the summer solstice so we need to make the most of the light.NELSKI - lemon drizzle gets my vote!Happy Saturday to everyone.11

- Good morning everyone, long time lurker here hoping that it is okay to join you all. I have been reading along for sooo long now that I feel that I know you all! A little bit about me......early fifties and live in the southeast and have a lovely DH and three smashing DS (plus 2 cats) Just DS3 (25) left at home and he is hoping to leave for pastures new in the next 12 months. DH is currently furloughed from work but hoping to go back in the next few weeks (fingers crossed). I have been a stay at home mum since having DS1 nearly 29 years ago (OMG how did that happen!) but have loved every minute of it.
- Hoping that I can contribute something to the thread each day only if it’s what the weather is doing and what we are eating for dinner! Reading along during these strange times has been very comforting, a little bit of normal amongst the not so normal, if you see what I mean so thank you all for posting about your daily life’s.
- Just a Father’s Day visit to sort out today then the day is my own.
