Hi All,
I received an email from PRA group offering a 65% on my account. So i logged in and the account shows the balances.
Anyway having spoken to them, they're now saying that the discount is only available on one of the small balances, and not across the board.
Naive question obviously, as i know its not this simple, but if i was to pay the balances at the discounted rate - offer still valid according to their offer closing date; what are the chances of successfully arguing that i've accepted their offer of a full and final settlement?
Thanks

would it not be something the FCA could get involved in. Im obviously bowing to your superior knowledge - just dont understand how they can make a written settlement offer - which when i log in only shows the accounts i want to settle lower anyway (well ideally all, but they're larger balances) and the one they claim it relates to, doesnt even show up.sourcrates said:zero, they will just chase you for the remainder unfortunatly.
and yet then not honour it.0 -
If you want to settle all your accounts at 35% make that offer to them in writing using the National Debtline standard letter
(Actually start below that to allow some room for negotiation - say 25%)
Make it clear that you require their response in writing and won't be parting with cash until you get that.0 -
They can send you what they like in the post, unless they actually agree to it, then its not valid.Go with fatbelly on this one, these situations tend to be fluid, and whats not acceptable today, may be in 3/6 months time, this kind of thing is a long term approach.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Sorry that’s what I meant, but poorly worded:sourcrates said:They can send you what they like in the post, unless they actually agree to it, then its not valid.Go with fatbelly on this one, these situations tend to be fluid, and whats not acceptable today, may be in 3/6 months time, this kind of thing is a long term approach. There is the option of 65.00% discount available if it would help you manage your account:Please note this offer will expire on Tuesday 7th July 2020Use your discount in 3 easy steps:Log in online using your name, date of birth and postcode (or reference number & password from a PRA letter)Select your account and click 'make a one-off payment'Enter discounted amount and pay by debit cardWe will do the rest and send you a letter to confirm your account is closed.
but you’re right I’ll do that instead. Just wasn’t sure - still learning - thanks for your help0 -
