british gas homecare service refund

I pay £28 a month for British gas  homecare service and repair agreement I was thinking of claiming back 2 months as the service hasn't been available to me during the lockdown. has anyone else been successful.

My dad (for whom I have power of attorney) has it and it’s up for renewal next month. I’m pretty sure they’d have come out during lockdown for emergencies but this whole year’s insurance will have come and gone without them servicing his boiler. I’m going to ask for £65 back off them for that (it’s the cost they’d ask from him if he cancelled his contract in year after they’d done the service so, to my mind, the value of a service to them.)

I’d let it go but the renewal quote is up 15% after a year when he’s not called them out once and they’d not done the annual service. They want £200+ (nearly 100%) more from a vulnerable old man than he’d pay as a new customer. I’m on the war path!

So you have insurance that you have not used?

You did not have any boiler etc, breakdowns so you had no need to call them?

And now you want money back?

Well go for it.

But boiler services from BG are pretty meaningless they do hoover a bit and check a little but not really a complete service. LOL

Better putting your money in a jar and pay as required for any repairs.
