HI Guys
Any one knows about any lenders who can remortgage with satisfied CCJ of around 700.

What was the CCJ for, when was it and when was it settled.
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.

There's lenders who specialise in adverse credit. Speak to a mortgage broker and seek guidance.

I am in a similar position as thread. I have one CCJ of £448 for an overpayment of a job 5 years ago. CCJ wasn't paid until today (5.4 years after court judgment made) as I did my first equifax check and saw. Didn't know about the money as they sent letters to an address (uni accommodation) 5 months after i moved out. To my knowledge no other ways of contact made. Paid the money as I as mortified to see I owed money and wanted to rectify my wrong. I know that COVID has changed the mortgage world but am I likely to be accepted by mainstream lender for 90% mortgage (i know i might be dreaming here- just tell me as I am a mortgage novice!). Buying with partner, both in full-time employment (education sector), combined salary of £62,000. I know you might not have a definite answer but an idea or instinct would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks :)
  • There are companies who can help but you need a mortgage advisor.

@FirstTimeBuyer28 pre-Covid I would have said confidently yes, a good broker will place you with the right lender. My CCJ was a lot more than yours, but I've got other old adverse issues.

Now, all I will say is find a really good broker as lenders seem to be moving the goal posts. That's not to say you will struggle, everything else may balance the CCJ and it only being settled recently.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my ramblings and replying. We will look for a broker who can help us find the best possible mortgage rate and deal. It scares me to think that I owed that much money and had no idea! Note to self: check equifax monthly!

Thanks again and have a lovely evening :)

@FirstTimeBuyer28 there's a few brokers who post on MSE, they are happy for people to approach them, but they cannot approach you.

I used one of the brokers here for my mortgage application, other members have also used the brokers. The good thing is you can read through their posts and see how they come across, which is what I did 😁

Ccj and 10% deposit may be tricky at the moment.
Is a 15% deposit at all possible?

    Hello,

Thank you for commenting. 10% is all we can afford now. We could maybe get to 15% in 6 months + but by then the CCJ would be off my credit file and HOPEFULLY there will be some normality in the lending world that we would be ok? I think the general consensus from what I have read is it is in our best interest to wait until 6 years is up ( save in the meantime) and go look in Feb?

Thank you for replying and have a lovely day
