Can I issue a claim with a debt collector for IOU's from 13 years ago

in Loans
I have found copies of the original IOU's my ex partner signed when I lent him a considerable amount of money about 13 years ago. I lent money to both him personally and to his business.
For the personal loans I asked him to sign several IOU's as I thought that this would protect my money (I realise now that I was being played and completely stupid). The money I lent to his business went into the business. The business went into administration and a receiver was appointed. My ex partner was dismissed as a company director for all sorts of things. I didn't receive any money from the receiver for the monies loaned to the company. My ex partner was then made bankrupt. soon after. I only found the IOU's a couple of days ago when I was clearing out some old boxes getting my files together to sell my property. I am wondering if this is now statute barred and unenforceable?
Hope someone can help. Thank you

Forget it. The fact they're IOUs and not contracts, the time elapsed, that you lent the money to a now defunct business and finally that he went bankrupt means you have no chance.
And even if you did, he won't want to repay you.5 -
Bankrupcy is an all encompassing solution which includes all your debts, so not withstanding anything else, his debts, inc your loans, were wiped clean when he was discharged, not what you want to hear i know, but you have no chance whatsoever of getting that money returned.

Theres a long list why the debts are not collectable -He went bankrupt,No credit agreements signed,They would be statute barred by now anyway,You can try appealing to his better nature, see if he`s developed a conscience in 13 years.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Thank you all for the replies. Seeing them again was a very good reminder to never be so stupid or trusting again.0

You could write to him and send copies of the IOU's and see if he bites, he might offer you something back (doubtful).
Probably better off just binning it though and moving on with your life, leave that loser nothing but a distant memory and a valuable lesson in life.0
