Valuation for remortgage

Hi all, has anyone got any experience of using an independent valuation for a remortgage?
We are seeking to take equity out when we remortagage in August, but our current lender is only doing desktop valuations which doesn't take into account the extension we have added (we've gone from 3 beds, 1 bath to 4 beds 2 baths plus new office room, utility room and new open plan kitchen/diner).
I am wondering if it's worth reaching out to eSurv or someone similar to have an independent valuation done with someone coming out (if they are doing visits at the moment) in order to reflect the property's new state. Any thoughts?

Your existing lender is unlikely to take a surveyors opinion unless they insutrct them directly. Who is your lender? Also, August is a long time away in this climate, there is agood chance they will be back doing proper surveys0

Thanks for that feedback, much appreciated. We are with Santander. Yes, as you say, things are changing fast and they did say that themselves when we first enquired that the situation regarding surveys could be different nearer the time. We will likely get back in touch with them in July and see where the land lies then.0
