Civil Service reserve list

Does anyone actually get hired off the reserve list? I passed an interview for a job within HMRC and have been placed on the reserve list, I didn’t score fantastically highly, 5s for each competency, but a pass nonetheless . The ad clearly stated they were recruiting in order to have enough people available for the year, and that there weren’t many jobs available for immediate start. 

So I’m pleased that I am on the reserve list, but having googled it seems I may never go further! I’m still looking for other roles in the meantime regardless but wondered if people had actually been picked from these lists.

I think the best point to make is to not sit and wait to be called because a reserve list is just what it says and there are many vacancies that have them and never receive a job offer. Keep doing what you are doing and continue your search.

Yes- me- I was put on the list for 6 months, got the offer at 4 months. Been working there for a year next month. I was the same- I was working in a toxic job that I was desperate to get out of and had basically become resigned to not getting the job at HMRC. I quit my toxic job anyway- the day before I was due to finish there I got the offer for HMRC totally out the blue.
