1st of all I went on there website and gave them my name email address etc. then they sent me a 8 page application form. today I have completed a online interview. now they emailed me again telling me i'm still in the running and they will notify me of the next stage.
its only a job working in a supermarket. not as if i'm attempting to get into fort knox.
  • They do have a lengthy recruitment process but then so do a lot of supermarkets.

I used to be involved with ASDAs recruitment and we did similar. An online application, testing, invited to in store where you completed role play, team building exercises and had a go on the shop floor.

If you want the job you need to jump through the hoops.

And check for spelling mistakes, read the title of your original post.
My spelling and grammar are not brilliant but if I am applying for jobs I check and double check.

Ironically as I read the OP's post it took me back to my 'yoof' where I applied for asda once. Can't remember the application form but I do remember the roleplaying etc. Kinda fun if not stressy. Much rather meet the same people over a pint of lager.
I think the worst part of it all was never actually getting an outcome. Got a letter saying they were just waiting for a suitable position and that was that. I doubt they keep people on file for more than a few months but would be hilarious if after a few decades they found me something >< I'd probably accept too!

Never applied to Aldi ( I don't think I'd be right good at it tbh. I  don't think I have it in me to start another customers checking out whilst the last ones still frantically packing, so I probably wouldn't make the grade in terms of efficiency.)

Unfortunately most jobs have hoops to jump through now, though to look at it from the recruiters point of view there's probably more able candidates than there are positions these days, so it's not even a case of weeding out unsuitable candidates, it's also a competition between suitable candidates. It's a nasty game but kudos to everyone fighting the fight and playing it
