So after years of accumulating a lot of debts following a very long and hard divorce years ago, not receiving any financial support from my ex husband over many years and supporting my teenager through liver cancer the time has come when I have realised I have been stupid to get in the financial position that I have. So I am posting on here to start my long journey to mend myself both mentally and financially. I have recently met the most amazing man who treats me better than anyone ever has but I could never tell him the position I am in financially, I would be too embarrassed. My credit score is awful and I want to work hard to really improve it to hopefully one day be able to buy somewhere together. I was in a DMP with step change but accumulated more debt so have decided to self manage. I have got all together all the debts on a spreadsheet with a plan of what I want to pay first. I have written to some of the smaller debts to ask for a final settlement offer and waiting for their response. I have also opened a savings account and started to save to then be able to offer some more settlement figures. I would really appreciate any support from all of you wonderful people. Also any advice in relation to the best and quickest way to improve my credit score would be very welcomed please. I will post my SOP etc later
