Can I get a mortgage with agency work?

Me and my partner are currently saving up for a deposit for our first home. We should have the deposit and a bit extra by September 2020. However, my partner is currently unhappy in his mechanic job that he has been in for 16 months. He is therefore wanting to put his resignation in and take up agency driving work as he has a class 2 licence. He is only going through agency as he has no experience with class 2 driving so nobody will give him a permanent job.
Will this agency work affect the mortgage and will we still be able to get a mortgage?

Better to run around get a mortgage then resign. Agency work? 🤷♀️ I don’t think so as they will need probably 2-3yrs worth of accounts or self assessment paperwork to prove trend of income.Initial mortgage bal £487.5k, current £258k, target £243,750(halfway!)
