I was wondering if anyone has experienced friends/family being entitled when it comes to prizes? There's no thank you or gratitude?
I don't want pity, I'm just curious if this has happened to anyone else?

I haven't experienced it myself, they're usually grateful.  But I certainly wouldn't be giving anyone a prize if they didn't sound grateful.

I've noticed that some people don't seem to value something you've won. I've gifted something lovely where I entered the competition as I knew this person really wanted it only to be offered a, "Did you win this?" rather than thanks.  It never happened again.

Yep. Someone didn't appreciate a little thing I won, which I thought they'd like. When I won something bigger they asked me to share it and I just said 'no, I won it'.
My collegues at work are forever grateful for the little food/tea/coffee I win!

My housemates were always super grateful when I won household products or a hamper of food that we shared together, but I once gifted my parents a smart speaker and they were disgruntled that I was giving them that one instead of replacing my newer one with the standard model I'd just won. They've not received any comping gifts since.

  • I actually won my dad 2 Father's day hampers, which he knows I won, so it'll be interesting to see if he's !!!!!! over the fact I spent no money on him?

I wouldn't care if someone gave me a present they won, because i'm still getting a present? The hampers are far nicer than the chocolate I was going to give him anyway.

Considering the hours that go into comping, it's more effort than actually buying it. I've not done this yet but I've already told my family I'm winning there Christmas presents if I can.

My sister gifted my husband some car stuff she brought with a Halfords voucher she won. He didn't know she won it and now thinks my sister must really like him as she spent so much money on him 😂😂 I've not told him!
