Missing HMRC pension

Has anyone had any success tracing missing HMRC pension, as Civil Service Pensions unable to locate pension between May 1983 and Oct 1987. Two different responses, one stating that I probably would have had a payout as less than 5 years service and second one stating that you would not have
qualified for a pension for this period. Up until 6 April 1988 a member of the
civil service pension scheme had to have at least five years' service in order
to qualify for a pension. In my earlier period of employment I did get a payout so not sure how to trace missing years.

May 1983 to October 1987 is less than five years, so you don't have the qualifying five years to get a pension. As you've already been told, you would have had any personal contributions refunded at the time you left service, so there's nothing to trace.LaineP1960 said:Has anyone had any success tracing missing HMRC pension, as Civil Service Pensions unable to locate pension between May 1983 and Oct 1987. That's two responses reporting two aspects of the same thing, so not inconsistent (the 'payout' would have been a refund of contributions, less reclaimed tax and NI, in lieu of pension rights). The PCSPS was non-contributory except for widow pensions however, so the refund (assuming you are male) would have been minimal, and nil if you are female, since widower pensions in the scheme weren't a thing before 1988.LaineP1960 said:Has anyone had any success tracing missing HMRC pension, as Civil Service Pensions unable to locate pension between May 1983 and Oct 1987.
