FTB as a contractor during coronavirus (h2b)

Hi all,

We have reserved on a property back in March. We have initiated solicitors, searches are back okay and we have the Authority to Proceed from Help to Buy. I have informed our broker once the ATP came in (as he told me to so he could crack on with mortgage) but have had an email to say he needs to go and look elsewhere as Nationwide who he was originally looking at is no longer offering mortgages to contractors. We are due to complete in September.

Naturally I am now terrified. I knew it was never going to be straight forward as my partner is an agency worker and he has minimal credit history. But I am practically squeaky clean.

Has anybody else had any issues getting a mortgage during coronavirus as a contractor or an agency worker? I’m just worried all the banks have changed their criteria and I feel it is the self employed/agency/contractors that get penalised the most!
