Terry's used to be delicious when I was a child, not the case as an adult. Has the formula changed or did my taste buds just grow up?

Don't worry, your taste buds are intact!  They changed the recipe in 2016.  It's the same reason Creme Eggs don't taste like they used to - both Cadbury's and Terry's were bought out by Mondelez and they messed all the recipes up to reduce costs.
