UK pension after relocation abroad

Hello everyone,
I am having plans to move to Cyprus.

If we consider that I may stay there forever (potentially), can I transfer my UK pension contributions to Cyprus? How does it normally work?

Many thanks,
San

Assuming you mean the southern part.
For personal/company pensions you tend to withdraw pensions to a UK bank account then organise a transfer over every three months or so (or whenever you want).
Contact HMRC and get your tax code down to NT (non taxable)
Government pensions can be taxed locally in Cyprus (as part of a change to the tax treaty last year), so this is very beneficial - you need to specify this when you go to Cyprus.
For all pension income you can chose to either pay a flat rate of 5% with a small allowance or normal rates (which are very generous) - suggest you have a google around or buy/download Blevins Franks Cyprus Tax guide
You might want to have a look at whether it is more tax efficient to take the TFLS from your pension and put that into a GIA/ISA (an ISA will be treated as a GIA outside the UK, but it's useful to have in case you come back to the UK) as CGT/Tax in Cyprus may not be due on that income (please check)

There is a reciprocal social security arrangement with Cyprus, so you will receive the annual state pension uplift.
