Hi,
Is there any one who got successful in getting mortgage as being a bank nurse. My husband recently started working as a bank nurse - doing regular shifts equivalent to full-time hours after 5 years of work in NHS. I'm currently working as a nurse full-time as permanent job.We are looking for mortgage to buy our first house and would like to know is it still possible to get a good mortgage compared to those who are permanent full-time employees. Please share your experience if you came across any similar situation. Thank you

as they will have no fixed term contract, lenders will usually base income on their tax return or p60 from the agency or organisation you use if applicable. Usually need at least 1 years, preferably 2 years track record
Everything will depend on affordability, speak to a broker"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

You may well need to establish a track record of earning. Depending on how much you are proposing to borrow.0

Most nhs trusts have got a FB group now, it would be useful to post in there and see if any other bank nurses have had luck and what the bank asked for or what helped. It wont give you a definitive answer but a bit of guidance/hope0

Anudibin has only posted 2 times on this subject.
However if your a registered nurse even on the Bank I would hope that a good broker can find a suitable lender.

generally the lenders will want to see a good track record, so around 2-3 years of earnings."It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

Nationwide criteria, as an example;-
Zero hour contract (ZHC) income
On 28 July 2021, we widened the list of occupations that we'll accept ZHC income from, to include the following:
- All NHS staff (e.g. bank nurses, health assistants, clinical interpreters, patient services assistants, physiotherapists, porters and locums)
We’ll require the applicant to have been employed on a ZHC basis within the same industry for at least 12 months, although they don't need to have worked for the same employer.
The following continues to apply:
- Income from the above is only acceptable where it's not the primary income i.e. there must be another employed/self-employed/pension income, which is higher, it doesn’t have to be a second job.
- The applicant must have been employed on a ZHC basis within the same industry for at least 12 months.
- The latest P60 and most recent payslip are required to calculate the income.
- The income should be the lower of the latest P60 total or the most recent payslip year to date annualised.
