Chances of winning without subscribing to newsletters !

Hi I have been wondering for the past few days what are the chances of winning competitions if I Opt-Out of receiving marketing emails. For example, I have spent 2 to 3  hours entering competitions almost 6 days a week from the 5 April 2020. I can say I have entered loads but I haven't won a single prize apart form a direct email competition. ( Saturday Sun ). This is making me think if I should subscribe to newsletters. Will I have better chances? What are your thoughts please. Thanks so much.

still early days "from 5th april" ie if comp finishes in May they are taking longer to let people know and then ship prizes so wouldn't worry yet. Keep entering as obviously the more you enter the more chances etc. Personally only had 2 from mag dailies in that time and one hasn't arrived yet.

Thanks much for your reply. Gives me hope. Just wanted to add that even though I re-started entering comps from 5 April, I have actually gone back and entered pretty much every comp posted here ( apart from comps for books, DVDs and few non-relevant to me). I will keep going and keep my fingers crossed.  :) Thanks once again.

I've wondered this since I started comping years ago. My gut feeling is that it doesn't make a huge difference. I like to think that most comps are run fairly, and according to the rules. If you have to sign up to anything to be in with a chance, they should say this in the T&C. There may be a few hosts who cheat, but I would think not too many. After all, it doesn't really matter to them who they give the prize to. In face, it might even be better for them to give it to someone who doesn't sign up. Potential customers are what they're after, and potential customers will sign for the NL. If they give the prize to a potential customer, they may lose a sale.

If a competition is properly run it makes no difference to your chances of winning (mentioned in the guide and numerous times before in the chat corner) - and like the free entry route vs paying to enter it makes no difference to the promoter if a free entry, paid entry, newsletter subscriber or newsletter opt-out is drawn as the winner

Thanks so much @Blulu and @mjm3346 . I honestly feel better now. Both of your comments totally make sense. It shouldn't actually make much difference to them if we subscribe or not. I will just carry on  :) Thanks again.

I think I remember a statistic that you might get one win every 4000 competitions entered, so don’t give up. I never select emails unless I have to and as far as I can see it has no effect on my wins.

there are various figures about but the number entered vs the number of wins varies tremendously depending on the competitions entered and the total number of entries per competition - if someone just enters competitions that average say 1,000,000 entries per competition (say itv) they are very unlikely to win ever, if however someone sticks to competitions with 20 or 30 entries they could expect to win far more often.

If you have 1 entry and there are 20,000 altogether your chances are a simple 20,000 to 1
The number of entries that some competitions have had are here and they vary from low double figures to 100,000+
