What a con the machines are nowadays !, I have two children who both need a passport sized photo each, it should be simple,
1. go to machine
2. 1st child sits in the machine and takes photo
3. 1st child exits machine and 2nd child nips in and has photo done.
Job done for £4
oh no, not anymore, 1 photo taken and 4 prints of the same photo
and cost to the parent of £8
I tried doing it on my camera, but it just doesn't seem to work
grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I know what you mean. Thing is though that extra £4 almost fades into insignificance when you consider the cost of the passport.
You should be able to do the photos yourself. Take it against a white background (and follow the other rules like no smiling etc.) then simply open the photo in a package (you can even do it in Word or Powerpoint) and trim the photo down to the correct dimensions......0 -

If you can crop them to the right size then photobox print them on the right size 99p for 8 copies + postage
See http://www.ips.gov.uk/passport/index.asp there are 2 PDF links for how to create a correct passport photo that you can down load.0 -
The passport office seem very strict now about size and facial expressions. In the end we went to 'Klick' (I think they have shops in most town centres) and got 2 lots for £9 .(£5 each but £1 discount for 2.) and you have peace of mind knowing passport office won't give you and problems.0
