Most of the window cleaners I've seen lately no longer work off ladders, they have these telescopic systems.

However, I wouldn't say that significantly reduces the risks for which you need PL insurance - window cleaner loses control of long telescopic wand, knocks something over from height, loses balance and crocks a knee joint catastrophically etc.

While I fully agree that you need PL insurance, it is also hard for anyone to claim against unless you do something stupidly catastrophic.  We had all new windows and on the 2nd or 3rd clean our window cleaner scratched several panes to the end of their lives.  Our bill to replace the glass £800 - the window cleaner just shrugged and said "Oh well, I suppose I won't be cleaning your windows next month"

But if you had wanted to you could have taken it further.
