hi hi there,
wonder if someone could clear up a query I have.

i have a PT job (9500p/a)
however, I have several pieces of artwork I am being asked to sell - max, I will bring In £500ish at the moment.
i contacted Money Advice just to check what I need to do and they have told me as long as it doesn’t go over £1000, I don’t need to register as self employed and fill out a self assessment.

is this correct?  Unsure if this also counts my PT job in this or is the £1000 is just for selling my extras items.

I’m humming and hawing as to whether sell the few items I have and that’s it or to just go SE on the off chance I decide to make more.

I’m hesitating going SE on the side as I am not familiar with tax returns so it is holding me back perusing  this further

Money Advice are right - there is something called Trading Allowance: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/tax-free-allowances-on-property-and-trading-income

Its separate from your PT job
