P60

How long do we need to keep our P60's please I have them going back to 2000.

    They are for a pension I receive I am not employed I am retired I would like to shred them

    I would say two years would be good enough, unless anyone else disagrees?

    Scan them and then shred - that way you've got a record should you ever need it. HRMC could demand records going back six tax years, although highly unlikely, especially if you aren't required to complete a self assessment tax return (?are you).

    I expect I've got every P60 and payslip I've ever received. I tend to just keep all financial documents. It's easier than thinking about which ones it's safe to throw away :) and doesn't take that much room.
