Mortgage application - paid via BACS but payslip says Cheque

Hello everyone,
Our mortgage advisor has said that some mortgage providers state that pay slips that state cheque payment method on payslip is an automatic no. However the payment is a BACs payment.

We have evidence of payment in the account obviously and the p60 also reinforces this. Should this be a problem for us? It's easily proved beyond payslip.
Can anyone put our minds at ease?

  • I've seen it a few times, likewise some slips say "cash" or "cash/cheque" when it's BACS/Faster Payment ('cash' is generally cash in your hand, but payslips are often strange!).

Can't recall it being an issue on cases I dealt with.

If your bank statements have the corresponding salary credit and the rest of the documentation is fine, there are lenders that will certainly consider it like normal. Your broker just needs to use one of those.

Can't speak for the words cheque meaning it's an automatic no - maybe other brokers can reassure you in that respect. It does seem very odd to me for a lender to have such a rule, but lenders policies are the definition of odd sometimes!
  • Quite common, never had an issue with it.  Only a problem if bank statement shows the credit as a faster payment rather than bacs
