Flesh out your question a bit. At the moment it reads as a paradox.Even an oxymoron...0

Do you mean you've been sub-contacting for 5 years in the CIS scheme but have not completed any tax returns.
Get an accountant to help sort it out.

I am a decorating company and I invoice the maintenance company and they deduct and pay the tax off my invoice0

Are you a sole trader or a limited company?
Why have you not completed tax returns?
You presumably have business expenses? Who supplies the decorating materials? Do you have a van and travel from site to site?
What proof do you have regarding the tax deducted from you and that it has been paid to HMRC?"All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well."0 -
It sounds to me like you are a subcontractor trading as a self employed individual, without a company (otherwise I doubt tax would be deducted from the payments.
If I am right, you pay 20% tax on all your income for labour. If your job is your only source of income, it is very likely you have overpaid tax, because tax deducted at source takes no account of your personal allowance (currently £12,500) or expenses. What you won't have paid is Class 2 and Class 4 NIC, but what you need to do is find an accountant who will help you put things right.0 -
I have my invoices total amount ..then after the 20% has been deducted and payed into bank . he pays all expenses Even supplies van and I moved house haven’t changed address with hmrc my brother had multiple stokes so things got put on back burner with trying to look after him and juggle work ..it’s a mess0

The longer you leave it, the worse it will get, but if overall your personal allowance will save you more in tax than you owe in NIC, the result should not be too painful. Get it sorted out by an accountant.2
