  • That's good then it wouldn't matter if you close it then. I closed my very account as well as soon as I could just stops the temptation. Also by time you actually move and require a new mortgage if you do then it would have been enough time anyway.

  • Good for you for even having an emergency fund
  • Payday and we've our home improvement paid for in full & carried out! Honestly I always thought we'd need to take out finance for the home improvement that was very desperately needed, so I am super happy that we've paid for it in cash :)
Debt total in down to £300, majority of Christmas presents bought and paid for so hopefully we will have this paid off just before Christmas with December pay.
I've been working extremely hard in my little side business which is how we've been able to clear debt quicker and have things on the side.
    Hope everyone is keeping well.
Debt Free as of December 2020 👏

  • Insomnia strikes again.
Had some cashback so was able to pay off another £100, leaving us with £200 left to go!
I've mentioned that I've been running my little business on the side...for the last 6 months I have quite literally been working day and night. The day job is making me pretty unhappy and I've decided to quit my job and take a very part time job at minimum wage just to provide a little emergency money on top of what the business brings in.
Money isn't everything, and I can't keep putting in the hours I am currently.
Awaiting the paperwork and a start date before I hand my notice in. It could be the new year, but it could be before!
I had a business meeting with a prospective client and if all goes to plan I could make up almost what I've lost in my salary so even if this one doesn't work out, I'll have time to work on promoting my business which I haven't yet advertised.
Looking forward to life on the other side of debt, and spending lots of quality time with my gorgeous little girl especially while I'm still her favourite person...people keep telling me how they don't stay this way for very long!
Debt Free as of December 2020 👏

  • Eeeek so have started new part time job, the place is open nights/weekends so I was able to do my hours this weekend. However I'm still working my notice in my main job and running the business on the side. I am EXHAUSTED. And currently second guessing if I've made the right decision with all the uncertainty/Brexit looming 😬

  • You are doing well with getting rid of the debt. Who knows what will happen next year with an almost certainly no deal Brexit and repercussions from Covid but you cannot work 2 jobs and run a business permanently especially as you have a child too. Is the business dependent on economy doing well?

  • Whilst there is a lot of uncertainty at the moment I try not to live my life based on it. There will always be uncertainty and things to stop us doing what we want to do. It's better to start job now that's gonna fit round building the business then not have one when your main job finishes. Will be a long few weeks for you but worth it in the end.

  • Thanks enthusiastic and Sarah...I work in marketing (specialising in e-commerce) and I'm lucky the clients I have are very well established and they are spread across several industries🤞 I was still at school during the last recession so I'm not sure how marketers were affected - I guess some lost their jobs and others helped to rebuild?
