Sainsbury's SaveBack

Has anyone ever used their Sainsbury's Saveback card?
I just tried for the first time; handed my SaveBack over to the checkout operator along with my Debit card, as instructed on the web site.
She'd never heard of Saveback, and had never seen a Saveback card before. She said her till didn't have a Saveback option. She called her manager.
Her manager had never heard of or seen a Saveback card. She got on the radio to the Store Manager, who told her to take me over to the Customer Service desk.
Off we trotted to the CS desk, where there were 2 further ladies, who then collaborated for a few minutes. Two of them said they themselves had Saveback cards but had never used them.
After much discussion and prodding at screens, I was then asked to pay for my shopping as one transaction, then the Saveback was put through as a separate transaction.
Just as they say on their Web site, it was certainly an "Easy [way] to save regularly" and I found the experience "Quick" and "convenient."
I'm not at all bothered - actually found the whole palaver quite entertaining, and had a bit of a giggle with the staff as well.
And before everyone starts saying "why didn't you just put money into your account in the normal way" - I specifically wanted to try out SaveBack to see how it worked. It was the main reason I selected Sainsbury's for my essential shopping today, and I was half expecting the above to happen.

As their website asks "why use Saveback?"And looking at their rates, maybe this is a rhetorical question.2

The transaction shows in my Sainsbury's account this morning as "SaveBack Deposit at Ealing Broadway Local 30-33 The Broadway."That's roughly 100 miles from where the transaction took place, and according to the Store Locator, that branch doesn't have SaveBack facilities

Received a letter from Sainsbury's Bank today to inform me that they're withdrawing the SaveBack facility from 6th April 2021.Less than 6 days notice, 4 of which are non-banking days, so really only 2 days notice. It was handy while it lasted.0

I'm not sure I'd describe your experience as "handy"!Fingerbobs said:Received a letter from Sainsbury's Bank today to inform me that they're withdrawing the SaveBack facility from 6th April 2021.Less than 6 days notice, 4 of which are non-banking days, so really only 2 days notice. It was handy while it lasted.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -

It was a "useful" way of manufacturing card spend, as it just looked like a purchase in Sainsbury's, and the money could be withdrawn the day after making the SaveBack deposit. My only regret is that I didn't discover it sooner. Only managed to get about a year of use out of it, but it's made me a nice chunk of free money in that time so can't really complain!
