Help needed after recieving credit report - 22k in debt!

Hi,
My partner has finally decided to sort his debts out, we applied for his credit report last week and recieved it thursday. Its not as bad as we thought.. but there are a few things i dont know the answers to that he asked me so i thought it was best to ask here.
1/ He has 3 CCJs on file. Hes not sure what any of them are - even though one if for over 8k from 3 years ago! So how do we go about finding out what they are from etc? Experian suggest writing to the court - is there a example letter for this anywhere? Also 2 of them are from the same court - can we ask for info about both cases in one letter or do we need to send 2 seperate ones?
2/ There is a loan he insists his mum paid off for him - but credit report shows it as defaulted at £2900 in 2004 and a current balance to be £2900? Is there anyway we can check if this is right or dispute it? Would we need to ask his mum to check her bank statements from then to see if it was paid? (before i met him so i dont know if she did or not)
3/A BIG problem weve found is that he remortgaged his house last august to conslidate a mortgage with northern rock of approx £25k and a kensington secured loan on the house of 25k... taking out mortgage with GE MONEY to cover them both plus release some equity for home repairs..... now his credit report shows the new GE money mortgage with a 68k balance, and the northern rock mortgage at £0 and settled.... BUT the kensington secured loan is showing a current balance of £25,596!!:eek: :eek:
I know the ge mortgage was to pay off the kensington loan as i checked the paperwork for him and also my parents witnessed it for him! So why is it still showing as unsettled??!!
It says "file updated for the period till 06/08/06" but the northern rock mortgage was settled on the 24/08/06" so does that mean kensington have not updated their records to show its been settled?? The status history also shows 320U? does that mean anything to anyone???
4/ There is also 2 hire purchase agreements hes not sure what they are - thinks they may be for cars hes had in the past - one with outstanding balance of £1696 from 2002, and one with outstanding balance for £9728 from 2004. Is there a way to check what these are?
The problem with 99% of this debt is its from before i met him 2 years ago... apart from the mortgages and one of the ccjs.... so i have no idea what they are and he cant remember either?! He wants to pay it if he actually owes it.. (2 years with a money saver and a baby on the way finally give him a kick up the backside:rolleyes: :rotfl: ) but as he doesnt even know what the debts for or who some the companies are hes a bit stuck where to start??!
All my debt is on a credit card or bank overdraft and ive never missed a payment etc so have no idea about how to deal with old debts and creditors.. so any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!:o
(Oh btw, once we know what the debts actually are im trying to convince him to contact the CCS to sort a dmp.. cos he cant afford to live at the minute.. never mind pay back 22k of debt too...
)
Thanks in advance!

Don't know the answers I'm afraid - just want to say good luck with getting it all sorted. I am sure someone will be along soon who has far more info but just to say you are right in getting CCCS involved once you know what you are dealing with.

Regarding the CCJ's, you can ask for info on both cases in one letter. Just make sure that the letters are sent to the correct court and that you clearly state both the case numbers. If you want copies of anything off the court file, you may be asked for a photocopy fee. As you have the case numbers your OH can also give them a ring for the info. x xPay Debt by Xmas 16 - 0/12000

Thanks for the replies.
I think we'll get the court stuff in writing as then we have a hard copy of the exact situation, and i'll be able to understand it better as hes not very good at filing me in with phone conversations, usually forgets something important! lol0
