Unsure who to ask or who to turn to -PLEASE HELP

Hi all,
First poster here  :)
I've been really trying to get a hold of my finances in the past 12 months.
I've got a few debts remaining, here they are below:
Capital One£1,891.03
Moorcroft - Vanquis£1,168.00
Moorcroft - Moneybarn£2,061.00
Ovo£325.80
I have suffered with Mental Health issues for many years, including depression with anxiety and also bi polar tendencies - I have buried my head in the sand and now I want to sort this out.
Capital One - this was a credit card taken out approx 5/6 years ago - a balance transfer was done and then I defaulted on the card, I have tried contacting them about the card and they say its in transition to a DCA - I haven't heard anything since (this may have went to a previous address) - What can I do with this?
Moorcroft - Vanquis - Again, a credit card that was not paid and has been defaulted - how should I negotiate?
Moorcroft - Moneybarn - this was a car finance that defaulted as the car had been written off due to an accident - again how should I negotiate?
Ovo - I moved out of a property from my evil ex partner and due to my poor mental state, I forgot to make companies aware of my vacation of premises, bills were ran up and I am left to pay :( - this has happened with a few things such as BT but I have since cleared those.

All my priority bills are up to date.
Any help would be hugely appreciate.

Capital One - I suspect they mean that it is being sold to a debt buyer. So when you hear from them you may like to make them an offer to settle - maybe at 25p in the £. If it gets to six years since the default date the debt becomes statute barred and you can walk away from it - provided you haven't acknowledged it by payment or writing in the meantime. So the ball is in their court to get their act together in time.

Moorcroft are probably just acting for Vanquis & Moneybarn -but you can still make them an offer to settle - again bear the dates in mind

Ovo - are they hassling you for payment? Maybe they will seek payment from your evil ex partner

The other thing that you should know is that all credit file entries drop off six years after the default date regardless of what you do by way of payment.

  • Hi @fatbelly
I have made no payment to Capital One for a number of years - burying my head in the sand comes to mind, not big or clever - what I am worried about is that they havent contacted me at any of my last 2 addresses - the address they may have on file is over 200 miles from where I live now.
Moorcroft - If I am after a partial settlement, what sort of % should I offer? Any ideas?
Ovo - I set up a payment plan with them a long time ago for £5 a month - I will probably just pay this off over the coming months.

I guess my real issue sits with whether I do actually "have to" pay Capital One
    AND
How much should I try offer to Moorcroft?

    Cheers

If Captal One wanted to find you they could. Your credit report ties your addresses together.
I'd leave it till they (or someone) writes to you and then post again.
    Offer moorcroft 25% using this

  • Should I post that to them? Or email?

You could try emailing. They're probably not going to  accept your first offer so expect to have to negotiate.
  • OK cool, I was expecting it to be honest. I negotiated with Cabot a 40% partial settlement.
