Changing Gas & Elec Suppliers whilst BR

I'm due to look at changing suppliers next month (49 days before my existing contract ends).  Am I likely to have problems doing this due to being newly BR (March 2020)?  Currently with EDF and qualify for the warm home discount.  Thanks for any advice :).

Hi I  moved from British Gas to Shell energy  while BR was on my credit file..they asked me to pay £300 to be returned after 6 direct debit payments were made.
This was amount was credited back to my account the same day the 6th DD was paid
  • Hi luvchocolate.

Thanks for your reply :).  I wondered if that might be the case but wasn't sure if they all did credit checks or not.  It may be that EDF have a good offer available I could move over to but I wanted to get my facts straight in advance.

I switched from Utilita to Green Network Energy while undischarged BR without problem and without request for deposit.

I've been paying them by DD happily every since.

They don't all do credit checks.

Absolutely right..they all do things differently. British Gas didn't do credit checks.
  • That's helpful. Thanks, Fighter1986.

Before you switch, check out "Outfox the market" cheapest I've found for the last 3 years running.. Decent customer service too. 😉 (No I don't work for them, job at a happy customer)
  • Thanks for the tip, Morfx.  I will give them a look :).
