Smelly Feet :(

My feet have started to smell, I mean seriously smell
I shower daily and change socks daily

In work I have to wear steel toe capped wellingtons, have done for 4 years. To and from work I wear walking boots, good quality breathable ones. When I get home its shower and slippers - sheepskin. Before lockdown to go out I preferred ankle boots or flip flops/ sandals . Now to go to the shops it tends to be trainers - also good quality running trainers

Im making sure Im washing my feet well and drying them properly

Im sat here this morning, bare feet and they are sweating. This has only been happening the past 2/3 months, I never had smelly sweaty feet before. In the summer yes when I took the wellies off at the end of the shift I would have some dampness but no smell. Its got to the point where Im going to have to throw out all my slippers ( 4 pairs - all sheepskin ) because they are reeking and I don't think they will survive the washing machine

Any advice, hints or tips to get back to smelling sweet again? Im 55 and menopausal if that makes a difference

Wash your slippers, dont throw them out.
Chuck them all in the washing machine
    Odour easters from the chemist

Ask the pharmacist about any sprays for inside shoes
Are you wearing 100% cotton socks

    Medicated talc, barefoot when resting

make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

I was going to say have you had your thyroid checked? I kept getting sweating on my face and a bit on my feet before I got put on thyroid meds. Now I'm fine. It might be a menopause thing though, I'm not sure of your age. My older friend said she has had so many weird symptoms since she went through it herself.

Will sheepskin be ok in the machine?

    56 and menopausal

Weird thing is, whilst I feel my blood boil at times, and I feel really hot inside, so hot I think I will vomit, I rarely get sweaty. I even remember saying to a friend that my armpits never get damp anymore and I rarely need an antiperspirant or deoderant

Just my feet are letting the show down. Ive no fungal infections , nails are clean and healthy , no serious hard skin problems

Perhaps I should ask GP to test thyroid next time I get bloods taken

    Thankyou

Try baking soda.  Footbaths and sprinkle it in your shoes/slippers overnight. You can also add essential oils as well, both in the footbath and to deodorise footwear. Lavender or citrus are good but peppermint oil is best.

You can also use cat litter inside shoes. Pop it in a sock.

You could also try anti fungal foot powder - the sort used for athletes foot.

    Hope that helps.

Lol, I have had smelly feet since as far back as i can remember. Around 25 I tried Sudocrem, I spread a big healthy amount on my feet before bed after a shower and wear socks for that night, then for about the next 2 months I'm OK, no smell.
My feet still sweat alot as always, I haven't found a cure for that, but the smells gone.
    I still alternate shoes daily.

You haven’t mentioned any possible changes in appearance. However wearing safety shoes can cause pitted keratolysis which is a bacterial infection of the skin which can really smell. It can be helped by antibacterial creams (fucidin, mupirocin, erythromycin) from the GP.
If it’s simply sweaty feet without bacterial infection sometimes Botox injections can help.
    Good luck.

Well they won't damage the washing machine (or put them inside a pillowcase if you think they might) and you intend throwing them out anyway so you might as well give it a go.
Then I'd buy some odour eliminating products, give youself a foot spa using them, use the creams and sprays etc and see if that makes any difference.
