Combined Tv/dvd Player Or 2 Separate Items Which Is Best?

Hi, hope someone can give me some help/advice re this. I'm not sure I"'m posting in the right place here so please move if necessary.

I am thinking of buying a tv and dvd player for my children boy aged 10 and girl 8 to have in each of their bedrooms. Problem is I don"t know whether or not it would be better to buy 2 combined units or both items for each of them separately. I've had a good look in various shops etc but have had lots of conflicting advice, also money is an issue and I don"t want to be spending megabucks kitting the kids out. I'm not a techie so know very little about this kind of thing and am just basically very confused with it all. Any help, ideas, suggestions re brands etc would be gratefully received.

Thanks a lot

I'd go for separates, the dvd player side are likely to fail first, plus you can pickup a player for as low as £15 from well known supermarkets

Thanks for that, I"ve been reading the threads about the Argos DVD players at 9.99 and apparently Currys also have some matsui ones for the same price. I guess if I did it separately I"d have more money to spend on televisions for the kids too. I"ve finally given in and decided that they can have tv in their bedrooms as I never seem to be able to watch the one in our living room when I want to, but I still want to be able to "police" what they are watching so one with a parental lock on it would be good too.
