Competition closing date has changed

Hello, I entered a competition for a local shoe shop last week which had quite some effort. The rules were no ages restrictions and the closing date was Saturday 23rd May. Today (24th May) they have posted to say they have extended their competition by another week by popular demand
and I noticed in the advert it now says ‘childrens’ competition. I don’t want to be a Debbie Downer but is there some law against this? The prize is £250 of vouchers which is why I’m quite disappointed!

An end date shouldn't be changed without good reason, (say there were technical problems accepting entries or something) but in practice nothing is done about it and they cannot be forced to change it back

You can complain to the ASA but generally the most they do (even for nationally available competitions) is say "don't do it again*" - some companies just ignore them and along with "don't do it again" they get told they should co-operate in future.
* the promotion should not appear again in its current form - or something like that1 -
