Student loan. Been paying when I shouldn't have?

I'm on the plan 2 loan as I took it out in 2012. I've been working for the last 3/4years. From August 2019 my gross wage went up to 26200 so 2185 a month before tax etc is taken out.
Before that I was on 21k then 22k then 24k.
I have been paying back my student load since the April after I finished uni even though I was not earning above 25k which I thought was the threshold. Am I right in thinking I shouldn't have paid this and can claim it back? Around 21 pound a month was taken off and sometimes if I did bank Holidays this would go up to around 39 pound even though its a one off monthly wage and the yesrly threshold was still under
I'm currently on a temp upgrade so I'm earning 30k so 2533 a month before deductions. I'm only on this from March 2020to June 2020 and getting 35 pound taken off a month. Is that correct?
Will the amount go down for the remainder of months as I won't be earning that consistently?
I'm also going on maternity leave in July so does that mean I won't be paying back as I'll earn little throughout the year?

Congratulations on your pregnancy! With the student loan Plan 2, you don't have to pay until you earn £26,575 pa. So you should write to the Student Loan Co. and explain and say you would like your money back please. You won't pay anything when you're not earning, or when earning below £26,575. If you've ever seen Martin when he does his roadshows, he always stresses that student loans should be your lowest priority. All you need to do is write to them, explain the situation and probably supply your payslips and they should refund you without question. You're going to need as much money as you can get your hands on, so don't waste it!Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts.
