I was wondering how often this happens? That people just receive a prize in the mail without any warning?

Probably about ten times in the past ten years0

As I do not appear to be able to win anything at the moment it is not happening at all, however when I was winning I guess it happened about twice a month.
Several years ago I had a cheque for over £1500 turn up out of the blue. Those were the days.

I started comping last July and have had around 5 prizes just turn up. Usually books0

I might be about to have my first one in just over 3 years - I got a Hermes email through saying that they had 'my' parcel to dispatch on Monday; I haven't ordered anything and did a quick check with my friends and family to make sure it wasn't a gift from them, so we'll just have to wait and see what arrives!A comping student - Never far from a cup of tea

This used to happen sometimes, but I haven't won anything at all (other than a pen) for ages.

I had a TV turn up out the blue, I rang the number and it was from Radio Times, I told them i just wanted to say thank you, I often get books, dvds turn up out the blue with no notes etc. I type the name of the book/dvd and the URL pops up.

Best one to turn up out of the blue was a Blu-ray player when they first came out.
I've also had a pushchair and a fishing rod, but mainly books.
I did come on to start a thread asking how to search for comps in Game Over as I like to thank posters directly if possible, but also very useful for those unexpected wins that just turn up.
