Mortgage with partner

Hello!

Myself and my partner are looking at putting an mortgage application in. We live apart by around an hour, and I am planning on moving over to him. There is just something I am concerned about.

I am currently working in my hometown and will have to change jobs as it will be too far too commute. Would this be best done before/after I apply for the mortgage. I will be happy to continue working in my hometown til after completion takes place; but will this affect my application?

Many thanks in advance!!!

Is the application depend on you having an income? If the answer is yes. Then remain where you are until you find alternative employment,

An hour commute would be acceptable to lenders, generally it's up to 2 hours for London, about 90 minutes for other areas.

If you have a play with the mortgage calculators, using your income and OHs, then compare it to OHs income with you as a dependent and no income. How's that work with what you want to borrow?

Be aware lenders can ask if you expect your situation to change during the application / after completion, by saying 'no', when you plan to leave your job, would be application fraud.
(Said to point out the risk)
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.
