I too read more than I post and your diary Is very similar to mine age wise, mortgage owed, 💡 moment of sorting finances and over paying so will be following with interest and cheering on. 

I have 3 children, they are a little older than yours 9, 14 & 17. As they hit these years, they become more expensive dinners/bus fare/clothes/presents (Plus the holidays that usually only cater for 2.4 families or charge adult prices for a 12+ year old🤨) so the more you can save now, your future self will thank you for!
