Am I eligible for Council Tax reduction?

I'm a minor director shareholder for the company I work for. The PAYE element of my pay is around £8,000 a year, this is what is on my yearly pay slip given to me by our accountant. My dividends can fluctuate, typically around £9,000-£10,000 throughout the tax year, but this isn't guaranteed as it's dependant on profit. This is my only job and source of income. Would I be eligible for council tax support? I'm still working during this time, I can't be furloughed because I can only furlough the PAYE element of my pay and I can't live on that.

You will need to go to your council's website. Councils vary in what and how they offer.
Most have a calculator for you to plug your details in.

@unforeseen Okay thank you. I wasn't sure if they only consider PAYE elements or if they also take into account Dividend income.
  • I took voluntary redundancy from my last job because compulsory redundancies were on the horizion, I contacted the council straight away because the first payment of council tax was a week away they advised me to make the first payment and they would send a revised bill (in the meantime I did the online change of circumstances) paid the first instalment week or so later received the revised bill all they did was take off the first payment so effectively it's the same bill minus first instalment I've paid two instalments in April meaning this council tax period instead of paying 10 months I'm paying 11 months when I called Brent council they suggested doing another revised bill that wouldn't have a two month break and instead meaning one council tax bill would end and go straight into the next council tax bill so I said no charge me twice in one month as it made no sense. They weren't helpful at all

    I'm not talking about redundancies.
  • You obviously haven't read the whole post, you're not the only person with a council tax question!

No but my started this thread about something very different, not redundancy and council tax. You should start a thread pertaining to your query.
