HSBC mortgages

HSBC is best buy for a new property that I'm seriously considering but I've had poor experiences with them for branch banking in the past.
Would be interested to hear recent experiences of their mortgage application process to help make up my mind.

I've not got any experience with them, but they do seem to be coming up a lot in some exploratory searches with some pretty good rates.0

Banks are large impersonal organisations. Sometimes matters do go awry. After all they are staffed with humans.0

bottom line is your going with HSBC due to their rates and not their Customer service. Personally haven't had much good experience with HSBC. But personal choice tbh."It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

I've found HSBC slow and clunky in the past - I definitely wouldn't use them for my current account but with a mortgage I'm expecting very few touch points post draw down. It's really pre-drawdown, I'm thinking about.Late1stTimeBuyer said:I've not got any experience with them, but they do seem to be coming up a lot in some exploratory searches with some pretty good rates.
Interestingly, Santander have now launched an almost matching product except their offering has a product fee.0 -
We have personal and business branch banking (which we're happy with)' and an HSBC mortgage.
We bought 5 years ago as first time buyers. I have to say one aspect of the initial application were really time consuming and ridiculous...
I have a "pocket money"' account with Barclays which I'd also switched paper statements off on - they suddenly decided they wanted to see copies of my statements that had been posted to me, they wouldn't accept ones that I had downloaded from online banking and printed (which i provided originally) and copies printed in a branch of Barclays and stamped by the staff were also not sufficient. The guy doing the application basically told me that anything other than a posted copy was fraudulent...
Barclays staff thought this was ridiculous too when I went in to get a printed copy from them.
Remortgaging online onto another fix at the end of the term (which we've done twice) was an absolute doddle though.0 -
I only have my mortgage with HSBC, spilt into two parts when we moved house last year. Probably been with them 7 out of 9 years of being a homeowner. Never had any issues, follow the processes and you’ll be fine. Just about to remortgage with them.0

Probably my favourite lender. One of the easiest application systems and the clearest underwriting out there. Their underwriters are happy to talk over a case and will go outside of policy for good cases. Couldn't say anything bad about them as a lender at application stage.
AS far as ongoing service goes, no idea cause i dont deal with them at that point0
