Our tradition: Presents on christmas eve

Just thought i'd share with you a tradition we have on xmas eve (i also did this as a child and makes it sooooo exciting)
On chrismas eve i ask my children to write their name on a piece of A4 paper and decorate the paper really nicely (crayon, paint, stick things on etc as long as it drys quickly).
Just before my girls go to bed they put their mince pie, glass of milk and carrot for Rudolf and then they put their 'name' where they want Santa to deliver their own presents (ie under the xmas tree, on the settee etc)
When they come down in the morning, all their presents have been delivered exactly where they have chosen.
It is such a simple idea but i still get excited when they girls are colouring their names and placing it somewhere in the room.

oh half the fun on christmas morning is looking at the huge pile of gifts under the tree ring tow ork out names. I tried to leave them in piles one year and got shouted at .I am journeying to a debt-free life.
Our estimated debt-free date is January 2040. I'm on a mission to bring that date closer!
16/02/23 debts - £9556.38
emergency fund - £00.00
debt-free diary - Time to Face the music and deal with this debt once and for all0 -
Waking up with a pile at the end of your bed in pillowcases is the ultimate excitment for us!
Its where santa left mine and where he leaves my childrens then they drag them through and we all open them in our bed the same as I did with my parents.

Great idea. This thread brings back memories for me of a pillowcase at the end of the bed and waking up but not opening your eyes just in case, wriggling to the end of the bed to feel with your toes if "HE'S" been. Lovely!!0

One year, when we went to visit Father Christmas, he asked the children did we have a chimney he could come down, and if not - could he come through the door, and if so, would they like him to come through the front or back door.
The children loved it, he really was a special chap to make them feel so special, and sort out how he would be delivering their presents, so now they always leave the milk and biscuits by the front door, as thats where he said he would come in!!!
Another tradition we have now is that just before i send them up to bed to get in their PJs, i put a present on their pillows - they come running down as they have an early present, and its always new PJs, so they have something new and nice for xmas morning!!!!0 -
Last christmas we used my hubby's work boots, placed them on the floor and sprinkled talcum powder around them making a trail of footprints across the hall way to the lounge. The kids thought it was amazing as they came down the stairs to see Santa's footprints on the floor. A bit messy to clean up but MAGIC!!!0

aw.
Its funny how different families have different traditions.
For me, the christmas tree has to be in the same place every year, presents in the same place too. Mum hates it and there is a yearly heated discussion on the position of the tree!0
