joint mortgage an Ex and bankruptcy

Options
Hi Ex an i split 10-12 years ago,  very amicably  mortgage is sill joint as mortgage was too high to put in my name,   Ex is thinking he may have to declare voluntary bankruptcy due to corona,  he has had nothing to do with house or mortgage since we split.  i could either remortgage by paying most oo and get small mortgage or pay off completely,  wiping out my savings  developers are interested in the property setting up an agreement to complete in 12 mths,   Can i get Ex name off the deeds without being effected by bankruptcy,  he is receiving no pyt, from me i paid him when we originally split.  Help Please

So the ex, or the OR acting for the ex to be precise will want to release the equity your ex has in the property (working how much equity he has maybe complex)

I'm sure the OR would prefer for this equity to come direct from you, rather than needing to look into other options (which may include sale)

you of course need to be careful that you aren’t putting yourself at risk of bankruptcy by overstretching yourself
