Halifax Ultimate Home Insurance - DON'T AutoRenew!!!

I got a bit of a shock when i saw a massive increase in my renewal premium for Halifax Ultimate Home Insurance, well in excess of £900. I went online to Halifax and got the same Utlimate Home Insurance with increased coverage AND emergency cover for £575. It's a bit outrageous that these insurance companies still rely on people auto-renewing to rip them off!

All of the Lloyds stable have introduced a new home insurance policy but unless you ask for it you get the old style policy such as what happened to the OP.
I am also wondering if the OP had an introductory offer last year as a new customer - and if so it would be expected that the premium would increase this year - as long as you always shop around you won't lose out.0 -
Loyalty doesn't pay, there's a reason why I handle my parent's utilities/insurance matters for them. They were paying bucket loads for auto renewing and not haggling. Home insurance was over 600 pounds, moved to another insurer and was 5 times cheaper, shocking tbh, and they weren't originally with a premium insurer like hiscox either."It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

OH no I will have to look at mine and change it as I've just left it to renew on its own.0
