Season Ticket Refund

Hi money saving experts
I wonder if you guys can help? I have a season ticket with SWR which costs over £4600 a year. I applied for a refund due to being unable to use my ticket since 12th March. I recently heard from SWR stating that because my ticket is due to expire on the 18th May I am not due a refund. As they calculate it, by buying an annual pass I get a discount for the year of 25% (12 weeks) & there is less then twelve weeks from the last date of travel to when my ticket expires. However, I have calculated that in essentially paying £4600 for ten months travel I have paid over the odds for a monthly ticket so I am worse off and in my mind I have paid for a full yearly service regardless of how they choose to allocate it. Has any one else had a similar experience and how did you approach it? Is there anything I can do to argue my case? I am due back a refund of £800- £900 which given the current situation I could really use right now. Thank you

A season ticket can be bought at the monthly rate for any period up to a year.
How much would a season ticket have cost you for the period starting when you current ticket started to 12th March? NRE's Season Ticket Calculator will tell you that.
If that's less than the price you paid for your annual ticket, you are due a refund. Otherwise not.
Unfortunately the above calculation is only approximate - due to the ticket price increases since you bought your ticket.0 -
Have a look at this thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6113255/coronavirus-work-from-home-wfh-and-rail-annual-season-tickets/p1 you will get more money back by doing the change over trick, refunds are taking a while though.
